March 23 – Premier League Twitter stats for the week ending Friday March 20 show no change in the top five positions of clubs ranked by new followers. Manchester United continue top the table, 7,000 new followers ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea, with Liverpool fourth and Manchester City trailing in fifith.
In the total followers table, Arsenal lead the way with Chelsea second and Man Utd third. Man Utd are extending their lead over Liverpool by an average of 11,000 each week, and by a massive 30,000 a week over local rival Manchester City.
Aston Villa showed a higher gain in followers than usual while Newcastle United dropped a couple of places. Burnley shot from the bottom of the table up to 15th place. QPR sunk to the foot of the rankings.

When it comes to the number of tweets made over the week, Man Utd maintained their position in the top half of the table with 224 tweets (182 last week). Everton topped the table with 417 and Man City were second with 370. Southampton had a top three finish for the first time
Newcastle United were way off the pace plummeting to the bottom of the table with just 105 tweets, perhaps reflecting the downbeat mood around the team’s recent performances.
Last week we reported a slow week for Premier League club tweets – 3,630 in total against 6,086 the week before. This week there has been an uplift this week to 4,677 total tweets.
