May 21 – Premier League Liverpool are to unveil their third new kit for the final game of the season this Sunday against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium. But neither the club nor their new kit partner New Balance are giving away any preview of the design before the match kicks off.
Saturday’s match will be Steven Gerrard’s last game, and quite likely Raheem Sterling’s as well, if selected. Liverpool are making the most of Gerrard’s final game in an 18-year career at the club, with defender, Martin Škrtel quoted in a release as saying: “I’m sure this will be an iconic shirt as it will be the last one worn by Steven Gerrard in his final game for the club. It looks and feels great and I think the fans will really like it too.”
New Balance have already unveiled two new shirts for next season. General Manager of New Balance Football Richard Wright said: “The third kit brings an opportunity to mix style with performance. I believe the design team has done an exemplary job in achieving this. New Balance was built on the reputation of leading performance technology and we uphold this for all our kit designs.”
In April New Balance announced it would take over from subsidiary company Warrior as Liverpool’s kit sponsor next season. The new deal is believed to be worth a minimum of $40 million (£26 million) per year for the Anfield-based club but that could rise based on club performance.
The main Liverpool kit promotion was linked to New Balance’s #HoldNothingBack campaign. That kit went on-sale in club shops May 14. The new third strip is available to buy on-line now and will go into shops on June 25.
