October 6 – The ICSS and the Aspire Academy have renewed their partnership, while the French Football Federation have made a pledge for a closer cooperation with their Qatari counterpart. The agreements were announced at the Aspire Academy Global Summit on Football Performance and Science in Berlin.
The partnership between the Aspire Academy and the ICCS aims to strengthen and underline the existing collaboration between the two organisations, focusing on sport and youth empowerment.
ICSS and Aspire Academy will work on a number of programmes, ranging from counseling young athletes to conducting joint activities at major sporting events and conferences. ICSS and Aspire Academy will promote the core values of sports for youth. The partnership was signed by ICSS president Mohammed Hanzab and director general of the Aspire Academy Ivan Bravo.
“This collaboration between Aspire Academy, Save the Dream and the ICSS also aims to make a real difference to the lives of young people around the world, especially those affected by crisis, conflict or natural disaster, by delivering tangible programmes that give young people affected by crisis better access to sport,” said ICSS president Mohammed Hanzab.
The Qatar Football Association and French Football Federation disclosed their intent to strengthen their ties with the aim of sharing expertise and experience. The partnership will focus on three main fields: youth development, training techniques and technical research.
Qatar will host the U23 Asian Cup next year, while France will stage EURO2016. Both Federations will exchange tournament know-how and knowledge.
“There is some really good expertise in performance science at the QFA and Aspire,’ FFF deputy CEO Victoriano Melero told Insideworldfootball. “From our part, it’s to bring expertise in training and assistance.”
“The technical departments of the two federations will meet and set up a configuration for youth football,” said Melero. “The FFF doesn’t build youth academies, that’s more a business for the clubs. What are the needs and the gaps in youth football? Based on that you get the specifics.”
