November 1 – Manchester City have continued their rapid digital expansion with the launch of a new app for Amazon Fire TV allowing users to stream CityTV videos directly on to a connected TV via the Amazon platform.
The Amazon Fire TV app closely follows other recent digital innovations for the Club including the launch of Facebook Instant Articles, an official Manchester City Apple News page, and an official sticker set for iMessage.
Content in the Amazon app will include behind-the-scenes tunnel access on match days, Pep Guardiola-led training sessions as well as player interviews and special features. A 10-part series Global City will also be aired.
Man City are the first Premier League club to launch a content service on the Amazon platform.
Diego Gigliani, Senior Vice-President for Media and Innovation at City Football, said: “As consumers’ viewing habits change and audiences migrate to over-the-top streaming services from companies like Amazon, we want to be there. Amazon Fire TV is a growing platform with huge potential and we’re extremely excited to bring CityTV content to it.”
Man City have used their social media to version and purpose content on social media for different stories and features. The result being that the content may be viewed differently and with a different angle for that platform, the editorial and message is ultimately the consistent and the same whatever the platform.
Ultimately the Man City objective is to keep the club as accessible and ‘engaged’ with as many fans as possible wherever they are.
