Party pooping Beverley Hills cops spoil Lukaku’s wild time in LA

November 22 – Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has avoided a possible jail sentence in the United States by agreeing to compensate police in Los Angeles for their repeated callouts over loud parties he held at a house he was renting in the summer.

The parties were organised while Lukaku was on the verge of his £75 million transfer to United from Everton and police say they responded to five noise complaints in as many days at a Beverly Hills residence where he was staying.

The Belgium international, who was arrested and given a ‘misdemeanour citation’, will reportedly pay $450 to reimburse the force as part of a deal that will see the charge reduced from a misdemeanour which could have carried six months in jail to a disturbance of the peace infraction.

Commissioner Jane Godfrey, overseeing the case, said: “They are reaching a disposition in this case that the first thing that must happen is the defendant must pay Beverly Hills Police Department $450 for multiple response calls.”

The case will return to Los Angeles Airport Courthouse on December 18 when Lukaku’s lawyer is reportedly expected to pay the money.
