March 8 – The Tackling Matchfixing conference in London’s Chelsea Harbour will see more over 25 specialists in the area address the key dangers to sport and how football and sports judiciary and integrity bodies are battling the matchfixing plague.
High on the agenda will be presentations from FIFA, UEFA and the Asian Football Confederation on how they are tackling the issues. The Court of Arbitration for Sport will also be on hand to give an overview.
A look at the institutional overlapping aspects and the co-existence between criminal and sport discipline is at the heart of the agenda and Emilio Garcia Silvero, managing director of integrity at UEFA, will give an overview. CAS arbitrator Ulrich Haas will focus on CAS jurisprudence on match manipulation issues looking at the burden and the standard of proof and evidence required.
LaLiga’s head of integrity Alfredo Lorenzo will give an overview of the leagues activities in Spain including the example of last weeks 32 arrests of suspected matchfixers by the Spanish.
