June 28 – With the FIFA eWorld Cup now in full flow Electronic Arts and FIFA have released figures showing a huge mark-up in viewership for the early rounds.
So far the EA SPORTS FIFA 19 Global Series has generated more than 680 million viewership minutes, 60% higher than 2018, and achieved with 61 million total views, a 25% rise on 2018.
The year the eWorld Cup had 17 official league partners as well as the first-ever eChampions League and the introduction of the FIFA eNations Cup to boost viewership.
The FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs starts first with the Xbox ladder on July 5-7 in Hamburg, Germany, with the PlayStation 4 bracket opening July 12-14 in Berlin, Germany. The top 120 FIFA 19 players in the world will advance from the playoffs to the FIFA eWorld Cup 2019 in August (dates and venues to be announced).
In 2019 the final was won by Mosaad ‘Msdossary’ Aldossary from Saudi Arabia from a starting lineu-up of 20 million competitors.
There were more than 29 million online views of the final which doled out $400,000 in prize money.
