August 1 – The Bundesliga and Sportradar have renewed their match-fixing monitoring and integrity services partnership for a further two years.
Sportradar will continue to monitor the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga’s Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 matches, the relegation play-offs between the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 and Bundesliga 2 and 3. Liga, the Supercup, and the friendly matches of Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 teams in Germany and abroad. It is a betting monitoring partnership that began in 2005.
Earlier this week the German FA (DFB – Deutscher Fussball Bund) selected Genius Sports to monitor more than 7,500 fixtures for match-fixing and betting-related corruption activity. This will also include Bundesliga matches.
Sportradar uses its Fraud Detection System (FDS) to monitor betting patterns and which generates alerts if suspicious activity is detected. The system has also been accepted as evidence in Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) cases.
On top of the monitoring of matches, Sportradar conducts training on the prevention of match-fixing. Since the 2018-19 season, Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 clubs have received training session with proof of annual training of the professional squad having become a mandatory condition for a club to maintain its licence. Clubs have been obliged to take appropriate preventative measures in the U16 to U23 age groups at the academies since the 2014-15 season. In addition to the training sessions, there is an e-learning tutorial to raise awareness of the dangers of match fixing and gambling addiction.
