October 24 – Holland’s Eredivisie is gearing up for the start of the eDivisie’s fourth season on November 11 with a new partnership with DreamHack and an updated competition format.
All 18 Eredivisie clubs play in the esports league which acts as the Dutch championship in the FIFA 20 Global Series, the qualifying route to the FIFA eWorld Cup.
The coming season will 34 rounds (played over two season halves of 17 rounds) followed by play-offs and finals.
Clubs play in each round with two esports players, one on PlayStation4 and one on Xbox One. The results of both players will be added together to determine which club wins the relevant round.
Matches can be followed live every Monday and Tuesday, between 5pm and 10.30pm. The first half season final will be played February 1. Prize money will see €50,000 paid to each half season winner.
The real game changer for the eDivisie this season is the introduction of esports giant DreamHack as both event partner and digital platform for competition content.
Last season matches in the eDivisie were viewed more than 17.5 million times.
