October 31 – Bury FC, the first English professional team to go out of business for 27 years, have been given a 35-day extension after a winding-up petition was adjourned in the High Court.
Bury’s lawyers told the court a further winding -up extension was needed to allow the club more time to settle its debts, understood to be in the region of £8 million..
But that may prove counter-productive with supporters saying liquidation would allow them to press on with plans for a phoenix club.
The club’s league membership was withdrawn in August after the owner failed to meet a deadline to provide guarantees that they were in a position to fulfil their League One fixtures.
