Europeans Leagues bundles-up 9 members for joint overseas TV pitch

June 18 – The European Leagues association has stepped into the broadcast rights representation business with the bundling of nine of its members into a broadcast package for international television.

A request for proposals has been issued for the three years 2021 to end 2024. The proposal covers the Danish Superliga, Poland’s Ekstraklasa, Northern Ireland’s Danske Bank Premiership, Slovakia’s Fortuna Liga and the Swiss Super League (all playing winter schedules), and the summer leagues of Top Football League in Iceland, the Kazakh Premier League, Virsliga in Latvia and Norway’s Eliteserien.

In total the package covers 116 clubs and more than 1,500 annual fixtures. Reports are that the European Leagues is expecting to raise between $5-20 million from international broadcast markets.

Octagon are reportedly managing the RFP.

This isn’t the first time the European Leagues has aggregated members’ commercial rights. In 2017 it brought together eight leagues to form a centralised data deal with Genius Sports, Sportradarand Stats Perform. That deal has since been expanded to include 16 leagues.
