July 22 – Face masks, social distancing and hand sanitising aren’t the only way to stop the spread of covid. Hungarian club MTK Budapest is coating areas of its stadium with an antimicrobial coating.
Initially developed by Resystem in Budapest in 2014 to stop the spread of hospital acquired infections (HAIs) and flu outbreaks in public transport networks the antimicrobial coating was also found to be effective against the spread of Covid-19.
The company says that the coating that protects surfaces from the spread of Covid-19 and other pathogens for up to 12 months.
MTK Budapest will be coating the most commonly used areas of its Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium.
The coating has been given the stamp of approval by the Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ). MLSZ president, Sándor Csányi, said: “The Hungarian Football Federation supports the health and wellbeing of both our employees and football fans, which is now even more important than ever in all our activities, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“Having thoroughly checked Resysten’s credentials and success stories, I am convinced that the technology offered by the company will provide effective protection to the football family. I also strongly believe that operators of stadiums and other sports facilities in Hungary should use Resysten.”
Resystem says its technology is now in use in 35 countries.
