November 8 – The Premier League is on the cusp of confirming a record-breaking US television rights that will benefit all 20 topflight clubs.
US networks had until Monday to bid with UK media reporting that the new deal will be worth at least £1.1 billion, which would represent a 50% increase in value on the current agreement.
In the US, Comcast and NBC Sports currently hold the rights, but the Premier League has built in new packages to the rights sale, with ESPN and CBS expected to wrestle some rights from NBC Sports, which paid £740 million for coverage from 2016 to 2022.
The new deal would push the total overseas Premier League rights income for the period between 2022 to 2025 to more than £9 billion, a mark that highlights how robust the Premier League product is even during a global health crisis and a changing broadcast market.
On November 11, Premier League boss Richard Masters will update the 20 top flight clubs at a shareholders meeting about the new deal.
