January 20 – Sports-streaming giant DAZN has agreed a deal with Prime Video to distribute its service in Amazon’s Prime Video Channels.
DAZN has built its platform around football with rights to the Bundesliga, English Premier League, J.League, LaLiga, Serie A, and the UEFA Champion’s League, as well as a strong package of women’s football.
While Amazon Prime has picked off marquee sports rights in key markets to drive subscriptions to its multi-genre streaming service, DAZN has established itself as a leading digital sports platform in Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Portugal, Japan, Canada, US and the UK.
DAZN’s roll-out on Prime has launched in Spain and Germany, while other markets will be added throughout 2023.
“This is great news for sports fans around the world with even more ways to access DAZN’s broad selection of premium sports content. We are excited to create a long-term global partnership with Prime Video as we continue to innovate in digital sports experiences for customers” said Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN.
Access to DAZN on Prime will require an additional subscription but perhaps more importantly the agreement paves the way for a more rapid global roll out of DAZN and greater accessibility to the consumer markets.

For football’s rights owners, the agreement opens up a number of new sales opportunities and alternatives.
DAZN reported an operating loss of $1.36 billion in 2021, with revenues of $1.56 billion.
The platform reported that it streamed 1.2 billion hours globally across 130 million connected devices in 2022, a rise from 1 billion hours and over 100 million devices in 2021. DAZN now has now grown to 15 million premium paying subscribers.
