February 9 – Former France captain Hugo Lloris has been ruled out of action for Tottenham Hotspur for up to eight weeks after suffering a knee ligament injury in Sunday’s Premier League win over Manchester City.
The Spurs skipper, who last month announced his retirement from international football at the age of 36, does not require surgery but faces a lengthy lay-off at a critical period of the season.
Former England keeper Fraser Forster is Lloris’s back-up and looks set to have an extended run in the side having made only one Premier League appearance since joining on a free transfer from Southampton.
Lloris’s injury comes as Tottenham, who are fifth in the Premier League, face a last-16 Champions League tie against AC Milan and are also in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
