US to kick off 2023 Gold Cup at Soldier Field, Mexico open hostilities in Houston, as title chase hits 14 cities in 22 days

April 19 – The USA kick off the group stages of the 2023 Gold Cup at the 63,000-capacity Solder Field in Chicago on June 24 against Jamaica. The US are looking to defend the title won in 2021 against Mexico. In 2019 the US lost at Soldier Field in the final to Mexico.

The following day the group of death – Group B – will open with a double header at the 72,000-capacity NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, with Mexico against Honduras and Qatar facing Haiti.

It is a blockbuster opening two days for the group stage of the Gold Cup which will see Concacaf’s blue riband men’s national team championship visit 15 stadium in 14 cities in 22 days, between June 24 and July 16.

Day three will see another huge match up with Panama and Costa Rica renewing their rivalry in Group C in Fort Lauderdale (Florida). Panama overcame Costa Rica to qualify for the Nations League finals in Las Vegas in June, having lost out on World Cup 2022 qualification to the Costa Ricans.

Group D will open in Canada, with the Canadians playing one of the qualifiers from the preliminary knockout round. Canada, who are targeting their first Gold Cup win since 2000, look to have the easiest of the travel schedules with their next two group rounds being played in Houston.

By contrast the Group A teams will visit Chicago/Fort Lauderdale in round one, followed by double headers in St Louis and Charlotte.

Group B will play double headers in Houston (Texas), Glendale (Arizona) and Santa Clara (California) with each round being played at 63,000+ capacity stadia.

Group C will start in Fort Lauderdale before heading to Harrison (New Jersey) with the final round being split between Harrison and Houston.

The top two teams in each group will qualify for the quarter finals which will be played at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington (Texas) and at the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati (Ohio). Semi-finals will be played at the Allegiant in Las Vegas and the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, before the final is played at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood (California).

All preliminary qualifying matches will be played at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, June 16-20.
