April 21 – US communications technology giant Cisco has become the Official Network Infrastructure Provider for the Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023.
With the World Cup expected to draw an estimated broadcast audience of 2 billion people worldwide, Cisco’s networking technology will deliver the event across nine host cities and 10 stadiums, some of which FIFA said are already built on Cisco infrastructure.
Cisco will also connect non-competition venues supporting tournament operations, including the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) which will deploy Cisco’s IP Fabric for Media solution for the delivery of 4K content to fans around the world
Cisco will be designated as an Official Tournament Supporter for the Asia-Pacific region.
“The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ will be a historic event, and we are thrilled to have another great company, Cisco, now on board as our Official Network Infrastructure Provider,” said FIFA Secretary General, Fatma Samoura.
“With Cisco’s expertise and solutions, we will have a seamless and securely connected tournament experience.”
As part of its sponsorship, Cisco’s Networking Academy, which provides free IT educational courses and career growth opportunities, will offer an all-female team of local students the chance to gain hands-on experience by assisting with the installation and servicing of the network, said FIFA.
No value was given for the sponsorship.
