What to expect
Saint Kitts and Nevis are the first team from the third tier of Concacaf’s Nations League to make it to the Gold Cup final. Qualifying via two penalty shoot out wins in the preliminary knock out rounds, they are in a group with the US, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago. The Trinidad game will be their biggest opportunity to get a result but this is a team that has already played twice and will be starting to get weary.
Star players
Romaine Sawyers, a midfielder who plays at Cardiff City in the English Championship, is the biggest name in the team. Goals come from all around the squad though Keithroy Freeman led the scoring in the Nations League. Undoubtedly the standout and hero in the preliminary knockout rounds in Fort Lauderdale was goalkeeper captain Julani Archibald whose penalty shoot out saves qualified them for the group stages.
Manager
Austin Huggins
Huggins played 36 times for St Kitts and Nevis. His club career was mainly on the island but he did have a short spell at Bohemians in Ireland. He took over the management of the national team in 2022.
