June 9 – The Vietnamese K+ platform, a joint venture between Canal+ Group and national broadcaster VTV, has signed a deal to become the exclusive media rights holder of all AFC competitions in Vietnam for the 2025-2028 cycle.
The rights cover the AFC Asian Qualifiers (FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Final Round) and the AFC club competitions until the 2028/2029 season. They also include the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027.
Datuk Seri Windsor John, the AFC General Secretary, said: “Football in Vietnam has seen tremendous development across all levels in recent years, which further underlines the progress of the AFC’s Vision and Mission.
“We are delighted to confirm this agreement with Canal+ Group to enhance the consumption and reach of our world-class competitions in football-loving Vietnam and we are grateful for their faith in the AFC and in the future of the Asian game.”
As well as being broadcast on the digital platform, the all-rights deal also covers broad reach linear free-to-air television in the country. No value was given for the sale.
Manuel Rougeron, Executive Vice-President APAC for Canal+ International, said: “We are delighted and looking forward to bringing to our customers and Vietnamese fans the best of Asian football with unmatched quality standard in the country. This is a new step for K+ in Vietnam and the confirmation of our strong anchorage in this country.”
