July 14 – Leading Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, where Cristiano Ronaldo now plays, have been banned by FIFA from registering any more new players until they settle a dispute with England’s Leicester City.
Leicester, who sold Nigerian winger Ahmed Musa to the nine-time Saudi champions in 2018, lodged a claim two years ago for an outstanding £390,000 payment.
Musa, who turned out 62 times for Al Nassr, left the Riyadh-based club in 2020 and played last season with Sivasspor in Turkey.
“The relevant bans will be lifted immediately upon the settlement of the debts being confirmed by the creditors concerned,” FIFA said.
Al Nassr, who finished second in the league last season after signing Ronaldo in January, added Croatia star Marcelo Brozovic to their squad earlier this summer from Inter Milan but won’t be able to register any other recruits until they sort things out with Leicester – including the potential recruitment of Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech.
