July 16 – The 2023 Gold Cup Final, to be played between Mexico and Panama tonight has sold out, with more than 70,000 now converging on the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Los Angeles.
Mexico are looking for a record ninth Gold Cup title, having last won in 2019 but being the losing finalists in 2021 to the US.
It is Mexico’s final 11th final appearance and Panama’s third. Panama lost at the final hurdle in 2005 and 2013.
While full figures for attendance across the Gold Cup have yet to be announced, it is expected that 2023 will break attendance records. It will be a record attendance for the final that does not have the home nation, USA, competing in it.
As part of the final’s entertainment, Concacaf have expanded their Fan Zone ,presented by Toyota, to feature appearances from former players, the Gold Cup trophy, giveaways, and interactive games. The game kick off at 4.30pm but the Fan Zone opens at noon.
Before the final there will be a live performance of the Gold Cup’s Official Anthem, ‘No es solo un juego’. The anthem will be performed as part of the Final’s opening ceremony by Universal Music artists Adriel Favela, Lasso, Chiquis, and Oriana.
The final will be broadcast in 141 countries via TV partner networks, Concacaf GO, and Concacaf’s YouTube channel.
