AFC completes 5th edition of management learning certificate

August 16 – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has completed its fifth edition of the Football Management Certificate (FMC) programme, helping to equip its 41 graduates with the skills required to impact the game across all levels as future leaders.

Since its introduction in October 2021, the programme has seen 180 graduates from AFC Member Associations (MAs), Regional Associations (RAs) and independent stakeholders, with the intention for every participant to come away from the programme with know-how that will prove invaluable in enabling them to set new standards of excellence within the Asian region.

The AFC say their successful students have since embarked on careers in the AFC, while others have made great strides within their respective MAs, RAs and the global football ecosystem.

Each participant undergoes a six-month curriculum that focuses on core areas of management in order to advance their understanding of the game.

Comprising a cumulative 290 study hours, the FMC mandates attendees to engage in virtual lectures, discussions, assessments, and the delivery of business projects. The curriculum encompasses nine core modules, encompassing subjects like World Football Organisation, Strategic Management, Revenue Generation, Media and Communication, and Child Protection.

AFC Deputy General Secretary of Member Associations, Vahid Kardany, congratulated the graduates, saying: “All of you are ready to be part of the AFC’s Mission to provide beneficial services to maximise the potential of our MAs, RAs and the Asian football community.

“I urge you to use the knowledge you’ve gained to fulfil your aspirations. Add to what you have taken away from the FMC and apply a critical eye to issues that will enable you to meet your potential while pursuing actions in a transparent, professional and rationale manner.”

The FMC was established as part of the AFC Academic Centre of Excellence (ACE), an online platform initiated in September 2021, built upon the Confederation’s fundamental principles of fostering excellence, pioneering innovation, and nurturing a fervent commitment to football education.
