August 28 – Matheus Nunes’ transfer from Wolves to Manchester City is all but complete, as a deal that could set the Citizens back over €60 million enters its final stages.
The 24-year-old comes in as Man City keep looking to bolster their midfield options after Kevin De Bruyne was ruled out until 2024 with injury and the club backed out of a move for highly-rated West Ham playmaker Lucas Paqueta last week.
Liverpool are lining up a move for Atletico Madrid wantaway Joao Felix as the successor to Egyptian star Mohammed Salah in the case that a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad materialises.
The 23-year-old Portugal international has publicly stated that he wants out of Diego Simeone’s Atleti side and spent the back end of last season on loan at Chelsea. Linked with Barcelona but with a move yet to come into fruition, a move to Merseyside may be what the player needs to rejuvenate his career after a €127 million move to the Spanish capital four years ago.
The news breaks after Liverpool star Mohammed Salah was caught in transfer speculation as Saudi side Al-Ittihad reportedly prepare to launch a bid of well over €100 million to tempt the Egyptian star away from the Merseyside club.
The contract offered to the 31-year-old reportedly dwarfs his current deal, which is worth over £350,000 per week, and would see him become the SPL’s highest-paid player. The move would see him link up with former teammate Fabinho and Ballon D’or holder Karim Benzema at the SPL champions.
It was put to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp that talk of Salah’s rumoured switch to Saudi Arabia has not gone away following their comeback win at St James’ Park on Sunday. Klopp immediately responded with: “For me, it has.”
French Champions PSG have bid €80 million for Eintracht Frankfurt and France striker Randal Kolo Muani in a deal that could be completed by the end of the week. The striker has agreed to a five-year deal that would make him the latest high-profile attacker to join PSG following the acquisition of Ousmane Dembele and Gonçalo Ramos this summer. Kolo Muani transferred to Frankfurt from FC Nantes last summer on a free transfer, tallying 15 goals and 14 assists in his debut Bundesliga campaign.
The clubs are also negotiating a separate deal that would see PSG youngster Hugo Ekitike move in the other direction for a fee of around €20 million.
AS Roma have emerged as the latest suitors for out-of-favour Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, as they prepare a deal that would see the Belgian international join them on a season-long loan.
Tottenham are set to launch a £50 million bid in the latest twist in their pursuit of Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson. The 22-year-old Wales international had an impressive Premier League debut season last term, notching eight goals and three assists whilst playing for a Forest side in the heat of a relegation dogfight.
Able to play both on the wing and as a striker, Johnson would bring some much-needed efficiency to the Spurs attack. It is likely that Johnson would play on the right wing to allow Richarlison to adapt to the 9 position abandoned by Harry Kane, who transferred to Bayern Munich for €100 million earlier this month.
Following a shaky start to the season from Richarlison, it is equally likely that Postecoglou could opt to have Johnson as an out-and-out number 9.
Napoli have entered the fray for in-demand Morocco and Fiorentina defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat after missing out on Spanish talent Gabri Veiga, who’s move to Al-Ahli was confirmed last weekend. The Moroccan has been closely linked with Manchester United in recent weeks, who appear to have switched their interest towards 21-year-old Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch in a deal that would let out-of-favour DM Scott McTominay travel to Bavaria in return.
Bayern Munich and France international defender Benjamin Pavard has reportedly ‘not trained for days’ ahead of his anticipated switch from the Bavarians to Inter Milan. The player has been linked with multiple top European clubs throughout the window, including Manchester United and Liverpool.
