September 11 – LaLiga and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Hanoi that will see the two institutions partner until 2026.
The agreement is focussed on growing professional football in Vietnam, and helping develop the national team, which has never qualified for the Men’s World Cup.
As part of the agreement, LaLiga will open an academy in Vietnam, sharing expertise and serving as a platform for the development of talented young players that otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to reach their footballing potential.
A core element of the multi-year partnership is to promote co-operation with and organise courses for Vietnamese coaches, as well as nurturing young talent through the academy in Ho Chi Minh City.
“Vietnam is a strategically important country in Asia for LaLiga and we are proud to be able to join forces with the VFF to support the growth of football and to continue learning from each other. Thanks to the support and knowledge already gained after the opening of LaLiga Academy Vietnam, and following the recently announced agreement with SCTV, we are now another step closer to the Vietnamese fans,” said Iván Codina, LALIGA Managing Director for South East Asia, South Korea, Japan and Australia.
The signing of the MoU was attended by Laura Fernández-Abad, Head of Mission from the Spanish Embassy in Vietnam, and Tan Bui, managing director from LaLiga Academy Vietnam, among other personalities.
“Over the years, with a consistent vision of maximising the mobilisation of all the resources for the development of Vietnamese football, including resources for cooperation between Vietnamese football and international football organisations which have helped our teams… The cooperation with LALIGA, where the best clubs in the world meet, will create opportunities for Vietnamese football to access the world’s most advanced football platforms to learn and exchange professional experiences, to accelerate innovation and professionalisation in the fields related to football”, said Duong Nghiep Khoi, General Secretary from the VFF.
