More than 20m applications for Euro 2024 tickets in first sales window

October 30 – UEFA have announced that over 20 million fans applied for Euro 2024 match tickets during the first round of ticket sales, including 7.8 million applications in the opening 24 hours.

Fans from tournament hosts Germany made up 65% of ticket applications in the opening window, although applicants from outside of Germany were shown to apply for more matches across different cities.

Fans from 206 countries have applied for tickets.

A staggering 2,295,665 tickets were requested for the final, to be staged at Olympiastadion Berlin on July 14 –  that equate to 33 times the capacity of the stadium.

In addition, more than 1,408,000 applications were received for the opening game, which will be played at the Munich Football Arena on June 14, which tolls up at approximately 21 times the venue’s capacity.

In early November, tickets for all 51 matches will be distributed through a lottery that encompasses all applicants. UEFA have said that all those who secure tickets will receive notifications by November 14.

The next opportunity to apply for tickets will be after the final draw on 2 December 2023, when one million tickets will be made available to fans. Some tickets will be withheld from the sale in order for fans of national teams yet to qualify for the tournament through the playoff system.

UEFA Events CEO Martin Kallen said: “The anticipation for UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany is rising every day. With our simple and fair ticketing process combined with affordable prices, we can once again offer fans access unforgettable moments and special encounters. The exceptional number of ticket applications is testament to the continued appeal of the tournament and the interest of fans around the world.”

Spring 2024 will see the introduction of an official ticket resale platform, allowing fans to resell their tickets at their original face value using EURO2024.com/tickets. This platform will offer fans the opportunity to purchase tickets from fellow supporters. UEFA have stressed that the official channel is the only recommended place to apply for tickets, eliminating the risk of counterfeit or invalid tickets and ensuring sellers receive full payment.
