Megan Rapinoe to end her club career with one final push

November 8 – The US women’s national team star and global football icon Megan Rapinoe is looking to retire from the professional game with another trophy.

This Sunday her club side OL Reign will play NJ/NY Gotham FC at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego after both clubs won their respective semi-finals against the San Diego Wave and the Portland Thorns.

As well as Rapinoe’s final game, the match will bring the curtain down another US national team legend Ali Krieger.

Krieger played 108 times for the US, including at three World Cups which the US won in 2015 and 2019, having been runners up in 2011.

Rapinoe played 203 times for the US, scoring 65 times. Winner of the Golden Boot at the France 2019 World Cup, she was also part of the winning team in 2015. She also won Olympic Gold with the US in London in 2012 and Bronze in Tokyo in 2020.

Sunday will be Rapinoe’s 122nd game for the Seattle club for whom she has scored 52 goals.
