November 14 – Concacaf will hold its Nations League 2024 finals and the final play-in for the last two Copa America 2024 slots in the Dallas Metropolitan Area, March 21-24.
The AT&T Stadium in Arlington will host the semi-finals and final of the Nations League, while FC Dallas’ Toyota Stadium in Frisco, will host the Copa America play-in matches.
The Nations League reaches a crucial stage this week with the quarter finals being completed in the current international window. The first legs will be played November 16 and 17 and second legs November 20 and 21.
The quarterfinal match-ups are: Mexico vs. Honduras, United States vs. Trinidad and Tobago, Canada vs. Jamaica, and Costa Rica vs Panama.
The winners qualify for the Nations League final four, while the losers will head to Frisco for a chance to qualify for the final two slots at the Copa America 2024 to be hosted in the US.
“The Concacaf Nations League is an integral part of the Concacaf men’s national team calendar and continues to have a hugely positive impact on the development of the game in our region. The competition provides a consistent set of matches across the FIFA windows and, as we head towards the latter stages of the third edition, I must praise our 41 federations and their teams for their hard work and commitment to this competition,” said Concacaf President Victor Montagliani.
The first two editions of the Nations League were won by the USA, first beating Mexico 3-2 after extra time in the Mile High Stadium in Denver, and retaining their title 2-0 against Canada in the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas last June.
The 80,000-capacity AT&T Stadium (it can be expanded to 105,000), is one of the two stadium currently favourited to host the World Cup final in 2026. New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium is the other. With FIFA very much taking up residence in the US with a rapidly burgeoning office in Miami, the Arlington hosting gives Dallas a significant opportunity to showcase its hosting of major international football.
“We are honored to host decisive matches at AT&T Stadium for the Concacaf Nations League, including the Final,” said Dallas Cowboys Owner, President and General Manager Jerry Jones.
“North Texas has proven to be an incredible region for international soccer, and we look forward to providing another world class experience for each one of the matches played at AT&T Stadium.”
“The opportunity to host these premier Concacaf Nations League matches elevates Dallas and the entire North Texas region as the ultimate destination for international soccer competition,” echoed Monica Paul, Executive Director of the Dallas Sports Commission.
