Should I stay or should I go? Mbappé prevaricates

January 4 – Kylian Mbappé says he has yet to decide whether he will sign a new contract to stay at Paris St. Germain beyond this season or leave on a free transfer in the summer.

The mercurial French captain and World Cup winner, who has long been a target of Real Madrid, said last year that he had no intention of extending his deal with PSG where his contract now enters its final six months.

He can therefore technically open talks with other clubs or even sign a pre-contract agreement with long-time suitor Real or even Premier League leaders Liverpool.

“First of all, I’m very, very, very motivated for this year. It’s very important,” Mbappé told reporters after PSG’s 2-0 win over Toulouse in the French Super Cup final on Wednesday.

“As I said, we’ve got titles to go after and we’ve already won one, so that’s already done. After that, no, I haven’t made up my mind yet.”

As part of an agreement reached last summer, when the club initially threatened that he must sign a new deal or be transferred before the start of this season, it was reported that Mbappé agreed to waive loyalty bonus payments of up to €100m to protect PSG if he left for nothing.

“With the agreement I made with the chairman (Nasser Al-Khelaifi) this summer, it doesn’t matter what I decide,” he added.
