Man City launch 10th football school project in Dyrrah, Albania

January 17 – Manchester City is adding another facility and player development centre to its academy business, this time in the Albanian city of Durres, to be called Dyrrah City Football Academy.

Edi Rama, the Albanian Prime Minister said: “The launch of the Manchester City Football School in Durres is a very important development for the Albanian growing sport movement at the end of an exciting year, which brought our National Football Team at the top of its Germany Euro 2024 qualifier group.

“More than that, the launch of the Manchester City Football School in Albania is a new source of positive energy for our country and we’d like to thank Manchester City for working with us on this project.”

The Albanian initiative will be the tenth Manchester City Football School, and the latest expansion of its grassroots programme. It is targeted to open in Autumn 2024.
As with other City Football Schools, the coaching methodology will be based on Manchester City’s English academy system and will include an Elite Academy.

Jorgina Busquets, Managing Director Football Education, Recreation and Partner Clubs at City Football Group, said: “We are delighted to announce a new City Football School in Albania. It is the latest offering as part of a continued global expansion of the Club’s educational programming as we aim to share our coaching methodology, knowledge and experience to develop young people around the world.”
