Transfer talk: Hammers knocking on Phillips’ door, Man Utd look to off load Sancho and Antony to Saudi

January 23 – West Ham United are leading the race for in-demand 28-year-old Kalvin Phillips and are close to agreeing a loan deal with Manchester City for the England international.

While the Hammers are confident the move will happen, the deal is dependent on Manchester City dropping their £7 million loan fee demand for Phillips.

Juventus could still make a late move for the midfielder.

Manchester United have offered winger duo Jadon Sancho and Antony to Saudi Pro League clubs for £50 million each in a bid to get them off the books for good. The pair have been underwhelming since signing for the club in 2021 and 2022 respectively, with Sancho currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund- the club that sold the player to United for £80 million.

Chelsea have no interest of letting go of 20-year-old England defender Levi Colwill despite stong interest from Liverpool, who were also linked with a summer move for the player. Colwill signed a long-term contract with Chelsea in the summer and but could be available as Chelsea look to balance their books.

Newcastle United are demanding that Bayern Munich pay a fee of around £12 million for their England full-back Kieran Trippier, 33, who is interested in a move to Germany. The ex-Spurs man would join former teammates Harry Kane and Eric Dier in Bavaria to form an unlikely reunion as FC Bayern push for the title.

Newcastle could be persuaded to part with Miguel Almiron, 29, with Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab interested in the Paraguay playmaker. The Magpies view Morgan Gibbs-White, 23, as an ideal replacement for Almiron but Nottingham Forest are likely to resist any move for the former England Under-21 playmaker.

Lyon are attempting to bring 36-year-old Karim Benzema back to the club from Al-Ittihad, with the former France forward poised to become the latest high-profile player to leave the Saudi Pro League.
