Hart to take his gloves off at end of season

February 22 – Ex-England Goalkeeper Joe Hart will retire from football at the end of the season, the player has told his current club Celtic.

The 36-year old has made 690 club appearances across an expansive career headlined by his time at Manchester City which saw him win two league titles and a league record four golden gloves.

The Englishman also featured 75 times for his country, although unlike his club career, he came home empty-handed.

“I wanted to get the message out as of June I am going to stop playing football. This is something that I have thought about for a while, there’s no right or wrong time is there?,” said Hart.

“Physically I feel great, I feel as good as I possibly can do. For my age and what I have done to my body, I have been on the bench since I was 15, have been involved in professional football every day since I was 16.”

Hart has enjoyed a fruitful stint in Scotland, where he has aided his current club to five of six domestic trophies in the past two seasons under Ange Postecoglou.
