Myanmar builds its safeguarding educational output with launch of a series of programmes

March 11 Coinciding with International Women’s Day and as part of the AFC’s Women’s Football Day last week, the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) organised a Safeguarding Workshop in an effort to fortify safeguarding practices within the game.

The workshop was attended by 60 key stakeholders ranging from coaches and referees to players and led by Si Thu Win, MFF’s Director of International Relations and Child Safeguarding Officer.

The MFF organised a series of activities and seminars during the workshop, with the objective of delivering essential knowledge and skills that could be crucial for cultivating a positive and secure football ecosystem. This initiative aligns with the MFF’s broader vision of extending the reach of football across Myanmar.

The workshop incorporated in-depth discussions on safeguarding measures, with a specific focus on children, women, and vulnerable adults.

As part of its overarching strategy, the MFF also announced plans to launch a series of educational programmes on the same subject matter, taking another step in support of the implementation of safeguarding practices across all levels of football in Myanmar.

The move underscores a recognition of football’s potential to usher positive change in the country and highlights the federation’s enthusiasm to protecting the welfare of those involved in the sport.
