June 17 – Euro 2024 is on course to be the biggest UEFA tournament in history. UEFA said it has sold more than 2.3 million tickets to fans.
In the two ticket application phases before the finals, there were 50 million ticket requests, the most demanded UEFA European Championship ever. There were 20 million ticket requests in the first phase for the general public and 30 million ticket requests in the second to supporters of the participating teams.
German, English, Austrian, Switss and Dutch fans have bought the most tickets.
So far, 93,147 more tickets than originally planned have been made available due to ticket returns and the finalisation of stadium configurations. Through the Fans First program, these tickets were offered to fans who were initially unsuccessful in the ballot.
UEFA has increased security regarding tickets, and will only accept digital tickets bought via UEFA.com for entry to stadia in an effort to minimise the risk of replication and duplication. UEFA said that nearly 10,000 tickets have already been cancelled ahead of the tournament as they were offered and/or transferred in breach of the updated ticketing terms and conditions.
The most in-demand matches were the final in Berlin, the opening match in Munich and the semi-finals in Munich and Dortmund.
The tournament got off to a thrilling start on Friday as hosts Germany put five past a hapless ten-man Scotland team at the Allianz arena.
