June 17 – More than five billion people in over 200 territories are expected to watch the 2024 European Championships live via UEFA’s 130 broadcast partners. Millions more are expected to follow the tournament online.
UEFA will offer broadcast partners over 3,500 hours of content, including live match coverage and supplementary programming.
UEFA has equipped each match venue with a list of facilities, including at least 86 commentary positions, 14 pitch presentation positions, multiple pitch-view studios, and up to ten pre and post-match interview positions per venue.
All 130 broadcast partners will have access to UEFA’s Hive media server, expected to fulfil over 170,000 clip orders from users, in a bid to streamline the process of accessing match footage and highlights.
The broadcast operation involves nearly 1,800 staff across the ten match venues, with an additional 400 based at the international broadcast centre (IBC) in Leipzig.
UEFA has also improved its multi-platform strategy to boost online engagement and monetisation, catering to the global interest in Euro 2024. Additionally, with accessibility in mind, UEFA will provide audio-descriptive commentary for all 51 matches to support blind and partially sighted fans.
