Denmark win a world title in Berlin. Anders Vejrgand crowned FC Pro World Champion

July 16 – The EA Sports FC pro circuit met it’s star-studded conclusion in Berlin on Sunday night as Denmark’s Anders Vejrgang was crowned FC Pro World Champion.

The 18-year-old’s victory means he’ll get the lion’s share of the competition’s $1 million prize pool – marked as the largest winnings in football Esports history.

EA Sports’ FC Pro circuit, comprised of the season-long FC Pro Open and the recently-concluded World Championship, was a glittering success, achieving the highest-ever viewing figures for an e-sports event.

It was a dominant performance that saw Vejrgang clinch the victory in the final, mustering an impressive 7-0 scoreline, which earned him the title of the world’s best EA Sports FC player.

“The first ever FC Pro World Championship delivered incredible storylines and elite EA SPORTS FC competition that matched the prestige of this marquee event and unbelievable season,” said Sam Turkbas, Senior Director & Commissioner Esports – EA SPORTS.

“The first year of FC Pro exceeded our expectations and proved there is a global appetite for competition on the virtual pitch. Congratulations to Anders Vejrgang on becoming our first-ever FC Pro World Champion and thank you to all the competitors and fans for making this an unforgettable debut season.”

“I didn’t realise that I actually won, but I felt that I played amazing today. I’m just really happy that I finally saw that I’m the best in the world,” said Vejrgang. “I’m so grateful to all the people that have helped me throughout my whole career, but this is the beginning, and I just want to win every tournament from now on and I know that I’m good enough to do it.”

With the EA Sports FC 24 circuit officially closed, the first new images of the company’s next instalment, FC25, were released on Monday. As part of the announcement, it was revealed that Jude Bellingham will take centre stage on the cover of the Ultimate edition of the upcoming game, flanked by legends of old and new in Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Ginaluigi Buffon and Aitana Bonmati.

The game is set for release in September this year.
