NWSL’s newest club BOS Nation recruits Barca’s Domènec Guasch to build team

December 6 – The newest National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team, BOS Nation FC, who will officially begin play in 2026, has hired, Domènec Guasch as their first general manager.

Guasch joins BOS Nation from FC Barcelona, where he was head of management for women’s football. In that role he oversaw recruitment and player contract negotiations to great effect as the team won back-to-back UEFA Women’s Champions League titles.

“The opportunity to build this team from the ground up is a challenge I fully embrace, and I’m eager to create a legacy that our fans and this city will celebrate for years to come. I’m excited to get to work assembling a world-class coaching staff and roster to compete at the highest level,” Guasch said in the team statement.

In his new role in Boston, Guasch, will be primarily responsible for “first team performance, scouting and recruitment, player acquisition, player care, medical and performance, analytics, soccer operations and administration, and compliance.”

With no player draft, BOS Nation, will be scouring the world to identify the best players, and Guasch, who played a variety of roles in his 14 years of Barca experience will be expected to deliver.

Controlling owner of the club, Jennifer Epstein, said: “Domènec is a dynamic leader with an exceptional ability to identify and nurture championship-caliber talent. His extensive experience and forward-thinking vision position him perfectly to lead our sporting operations.”

Guasch, will have some Barcelona FC company in the NWSL as former Barca coach, Jonatan Giraldez, joined the Washington Spirit last summer.
