French women’s leagues partner with Pixellot for performance analysis

December 11 – The French Women’s Professional Football League (LFFP) has taken a significant step to enhance performance analysis across its Arkema Premier League and Second League clubs by partnering up with Pixellot. The deal will see the introduction of Pixellot’s advanced AI-powered cameras, a cutting-edge technology designed to revolutionise match analysis.

As part of its ongoing efforts to support clubs in optimising performance, the LFFP has equipped every club in the Arkema Premier League and Second League with Pixellot cameras.

These systems feature a ‘Tactical View’ mode that automatically tracks player and ball movement, generating ultra-wide video footage specifically tailored for tactical analysis.

The technology made its debut at an LFFP-hosted training session for video analysts at CNF Clairefontaine in November, marking the next step of the division’s efforts to support its clubs in optimising performance.

The training day brought together video analysts from both leagues, as well as representatives from the French national teams, to familiarise them with the capabilities of this new technology.

By providing an automated and comprehensive view of matches, the Pixellot cameras aim to systematise data collection and tactical insights, offering clubs a powerful tool to elevate their performance on the pitch.

“The Women’s Professional Football League continues its desire to support clubs in their desire to develop women’s football in order to remain one of the best European leagues,” said Jean-Michel Aulas, president of the LFFP.

The French Football Federation (FFF) reported a 20% annual increase in grassroots participation among women and girls, reflecting the growing momentum in women’s football. The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019, hosted in France, further amplified this trend, drawing a record-breaking global audience of over 1 billion, according to FIFA.

This surge in popularity is driving commercial growth, with sponsorship revenues for women’s leagues expected to rise by 25% annually over the next five years (Statista, 2023). Leading the charge is Olympique Lyonnais Féminin, whose record eight UEFA Women’s Champions League titles have set a gold standard, attracting fans and fuelling interest in women’s football across France and beyond.

“In recent seasons, Pixellot has experienced remarkable growth in the football landscape, establishing partnerships with leading federations and leagues worldwide. Our technology is now broadcasting more than 1.2 million games per year from 80 countries,” said Yossi Tarablus, Associate Vice President Global Marketing at Pixellot.

“At Pixellot, democratising access to sports video and data is at the core of our DNA. Our mission has always been to ensure that every player, team, and league—regardless of their resources—has the tools to showcase their talent and improve their game. This ethos aligns perfectly with the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFFP), particularly in our shared vision for women’s football.”

“Through our partnership, we aim to bring our video and analytics technology to the top women’s football leagues in France and hopefully to many more leagues. This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to levelling the playing field and supporting the exponential growth of women’s football across all tiers.”
