Botev Plovdiv seek answers from government for banning of club’s Russian owner from Bulgaria

December 19 – Bulgaria’s Botev Plovdiv management has invited the deputies of six political parties to a meeting as the club seeks answers to questions on the travel restrictions imposed on the club’s Russian owner, Anton Zingarevich.

Zingarevich has been banned from entering Bulgaria for ten years.

A few days ago, Bulgaria’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Atanas Ilkov, announced that Anton Zingarevich would be arrested if he entered the country.

Botev Plovdiv says they are not aware of the reasons for Zingarevich’s ban, thence why they are inviting representatives of Bulgaria’s political parties to a meeting to receive the relevant answers.

In an open letter to fans the clubs said: “The institutions continue to fail to clarify the specific reasons that led to the restrictions imposed on the club’s owner, Mr. Anton Zingarevich. The management of PFC Botev insists on receiving clear answers to the publicly asked questions.

“In this regard, it has invited members of parliament from various political parties to a working meeting. The aim is to familiarise them with the situation and to seek a way out of it.”

The club have proposed a meeting date of December 23 at the Hristo Botev Stadium in Plovdiv, and have invited MPs from GERB-SDS, the coalition ‘We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria’, ‘BSP – United Left’, ‘There is Such a People’, ‘Revival’ and ‘MECH’.
