January 23 – Nicosia police have banned Apollon Limassol fans from their upcoming Cypriot championship match at Omonia 29M. They have written to the Cyprus Football Association (CFA), informing them that the fixture at the Katokopia Stadium on January 25 is high risk, with serious trouble possible from fans of both clubs.
In their letter, the police refer to organised incidents that have occurred in the past between supporters of the two teams, as well as information about new incidents at next Saturday’s game.
The CFA have therefore announced that they will comply with the recommendation of the authorities and so the game will be played in the presence of home fans only.
