February 11 – Delhi FC Director Ranjit Bajaj has launched a legal complaint against the All India Football Federation (AIFF) over the appointment of the organisation’s Secretary General Anilkumar Prabhakaran.
Bajaj has argued that the appointment of Anilkumar Prabhakaran violates India’s national sports code and has filed a petition at the Delhi High Court.
He insists that the former executive committee member cannot take up an administrative role at the AIFF. He also points to a conflict of interest, alleging that Anilkumar Prabhakaran had links to Scoreline Sports, a company that organised the Kerala Super League (KSL).
It’s the latest governance case to be brought against the AIFF. Last December, Shaji Prabhakaran, the former AIFF secretary general, accused the AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey of corruption.
In a letter to the ethics committee of the AIFF, Shaji Prabhakaran submitted a formal complaint against Chaubey for “potential violations” of the AIFF, FIFA and Asian Football Confederation ethics codes.
Shaji Prabhakaran briefly served as the secretary general under Chaubey before he was dismissed in January.
“There are a number of instances where Mr Kalyan Chaubey has caused serious reputational damages and financial loss to AIFF,” wrote Shaji Prabhakaran.
“All his actions have resulted in serious consequences to the beautiful game in India. The Indian men’s team didn’t win a single match in the calendar year 2024, it is the direct result of his actions.”
