February 12 – The Croatian Football Federation (HNS) and global blockchain company Kadena have announced a partnership running through 2028, including the 2026 World Cup and the 2028 European Championship, aimed at delivering new types of experiences to Croatian national team fans, regardless of their location.
“Building on the existing blockchain project VATRENI, this partnership seeks to enhance knowledge and explore new opportunities enabled by the fusion of artificial intelligence and blockchain. These experiences are not limited to attending matches but are also online and accessible to everyone,” said an HNS statement.
“The mission of HNS is to ensure the development of Croatian football for the future, aligned with trends not only in sports but also in society as a whole, particularly among football enthusiasts and fans of the Croatian national team. The world of fan experiences is evolving as rapidly as new technologies like cryptocurrencies and artificial intelligence become part of our everyday lives, and we are keeping pace with and furthering this development through our VATRENI project”, said Marijan Kustić, president of HNS.
Joel Woodman, Kadena’s Head of Partnerships, added: “The goal of the VATRENI token is to push the boundaries of traditional fan engagement opportunities from the past and introduce a more forward-looking, fan-centric experience. We are excited to collaborate with our partners in integrating various new technologies into the Croatian Football Federation’s ecosystem, including AI tools, virtual experiences, and personalized activations that bring a whole new dynamic to the fan experience.”
