February 25 – Club América are taking a trip down memory lane as they reunite with Adidas in a multi-year partnership set to begin in the 2026 season.
The German sportswear giant will once again supply Las Águilas’ match and training gear, rekindling a historic collaboration that first took flight in the 1980s.
Adidas will take over from Nike, which has been the club’s provider for 25 years after replacing Adidas themselves at the turn of the millennium.
They will only gain control in 2026, however, due to Nike exercising its one-year extension clause, making Club América the highest paid club in Liga MX for kit sponsorship – around $10 million for 2025.
For América fans, it’s a return to an era that saw the club dominate Mexican football, wrapped in some of the most iconic jerseys in their history. With 16 Liga MX titles to their name, the club remain the most successful entity in Mexico, and their women’s team – boasting two league titles since the Liga MX Femenil’s inception in 2017 – -are rapidly building a legacy of their own.
The move positions Club América among the elite clubs worldwide sporting Adidas kits, joining the ranks of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Manchester United. It also signals the brand’s continued investment in Mexican football, reinforcing its foothold in a region brimming with talent and passion for the game.
Starting in July 2025, América will officially suit up in Adidas gear, and if history is anything to go by, fans can expect bold designs, major marketing campaigns, and perhaps even a bit of old-school nostalgia.
Sam Handy, General Manager of Adidas Football, said: “The incomparable history of Club América in Mexican football is something we deeply admire and respect. Bringing Adidas and Las Águilas back together at a time when the eyes of the world will be on the sport of the continent and the region fills us with ambition and excitement.”
Emilio Azcárraga, President of Club América, stated: “We are very happy with this new agreement with Adidas. It is a financially positive deal for Club América. Additionally, we are confident it ensures fans greater access to all Club América products.”
