March 5 – West Ham United players are trading football boots for forks in a new content series, Hotspots, created in tandem with longstanding parter Lyca Mobile. The series takes Hammers players off the pitch and into London’s hidden culinary gems, showcasing the city’s diverse cultures while celebrating the club’s deep ties to the East End.
The club’s deal with Lyca is in its 12th successive season, making it one of the longest-standing club partners.
The opening episode features Crysencio Summerville and Aaron Wan-Bissaka visiting Barge East, a floating restaurant in Hackney Wick, just a stone’s throw from the London Stadium. There, they meet head chef and MasterChef: The Professionals semi-finalist Gavin Gordon, a lifelong West Ham fan, to explore the flavours of East London.
Through Hotspots, West Ham and Lyca Mobile aim to highlight local businesses, engage the community, and reflect their shared values of connection and culture. Past content projects with Lyca include Snack Wars, a YouTube series that tackled topics such as Ramadan and how players adjust their routines during the holy month.
With more players set to explore hidden food spots in upcoming episodes, fans can expect a mix of flavours, football and local culture—all served up on West Ham’s social media channels.
Frank Wiemann, Group CMO Lyca Group said: “At Lyca Mobile, we are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with West Ham United through the launch of ‘Hotspots’. This series is a celebration of connections, community and values that are at the heart of both our brand and the Club. By showcasing the diverse culinary gems of London, we’re highlighting the local businesses that make our community unique, while giving West Ham United fans an exciting new way to engage with the players and the rich diversity surrounding us.”
