April 1 – The Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) is organizing a special campaign this month to promote zero violence in the country’s stadiums in cooperation with the Margaritka project and supporters’ clubs of all efbet League teams.
In an unprecedented show of unity, supporters’ clubs of all leading teams in Bulgaria have promised to make efforts to turn the 29th round of the efbet League, which takes place between April 11 and 14, into a “family” one.
For this purpose, a video clip has been created, which has been distributed on social networks and calls on fans to go to stadiums with their families and children.
The organizers also announced that all children under the age of 12 will be admitted to stadiums for free if they are accompanied by an adult.
This is the first campaign of its kind in Bulgaria, in which supporters’ clubs, teams and the Bulgarian Football Union have stood shoulder to shoulder in the name of children.
“First of all, I want to thank the Margaritka organisation, because I am also a father and I listen to their songs many times. I want to thank them for taking on this initiative. When we found out about it, we at the BFU wanted to get involved with whatever we could. I want to thank the clubs because they expressed their willingness to help,” said BFU deputy executive director Dobrin Gionov.
“I want to thank the supporters’ clubs of the teams, because it is important to have a symbiosis between clubs and fans. Let the phenomenon of football be accessible to everyone. I hope that our teams will be more and more involved in such initiatives.
“I dare say that it is very important that institutions in Bulgaria are involved. We must fight together the unpleasant scenes that take place at some matches. There is aggression, but it is not only at stadiums; it is also in schools and on the streets. We are not running away from the problem. All sports organizations must work on this situation together, so that we are a better society.
“At this stage, we are working with the institutions. There is a draft law that is being cleared. We have already participated in several meetings of the sports committee in parliament.”
