April 15 – The 2025 edition of the Dallas Cup, one of the world’s premier youth tournaments, began this weekend with 450 boys’ and girls’ teams participating in the opening day festivities at the historic Cotton Bowl.
A record crowd of 23,134 spectators broke the single-day Dallas Cup attendance record, underscoring the tournament’s prestigious status.
The “Whataparade of Teams” and opening ceremonies brought together over 10,000 athletes. With each of the 21 participating nations represented, the international spirit of the tournament was on full display.
Monica Paul, Executive Director of the Dallas Sports Commission, provided the ceremonial first kick to help usher in the week-long celebration of global youth football. With additional referees representing countries around the world, more than 30 nations are present at this year’s edition, once again making Dallas Cup one of Dallas’ most internationally diverse annual events.
In the Premier Gordon Jago Super Group, Real Madrid and CF Monterrey played out a goalless draw, while in the group’s earlier match-up, Brazil’s São Paulo FC dominated England’s Newcastle United with an impressive 5-0 victory. The defending champions looked imperious and appear well on course for more Dallas Cup success.
On the girls’ side of the tournament, the Australian Girls School returns for their third consecutive year to defend their title, having won three straight Dallas Cup championships at the U15, U16, and U17 levels.
Additional games were played throughout the day at MoneyGram Soccer Park, Dallas College at Richland Soccer Complex, Toyota Soccer Center, and Ross Stewart Soccer Complex. The 2025 Dallas Cup will run through April 20, featuring boys and girls competing in under-10 through under-19 age divisions. The finals of all age groups will conclude Friday through Sunday in Frisco, TX at Toyota Soccer Center and Toyota Stadium.
