April 16 – The road to continental youth glory is set following the UEFA U19 EURO group stage draws for both the men’s and women’s tournaments, which were conducted on Tuesday morning. Spain, reigning champions in both competitions, will be looking to defend their crowns this summer as Europe’s top young talents prepare to converge in Romania and Poland.
The men’s edition, to be held in Romania from June 13-26, will see the hosts drawn into Group A alongside defending champions Spain, Denmark, and Montenegro. Spain, who lifted the title in 2024 with a 2-0 win over France in the final, will be the team to watch as the country continues to develop top young stars. Last year’s side was spearheaded by top talent including Real Madrid striker Iker Bravo and FC Como’s Assane Diao – both of whom scored in the final.
Group B features a strong line-up of Germany, Norway, England, and the Netherlands, promising a highly competitive group stage.
Men’s Group Draw:
Group A: Romania (hosts), Denmark, Spain (holders), Montenegro
Group B: Germany, Norway, England, Netherlands
The women’s draw, which took place alongside the men’s, sets the stage for a tournament that will run slightly later, from July 15-27 in Poland. Spain’s dominance at youth level was underscored again last year when they defeated the Netherlands 2-1 after extra time to claim the 2024 title in Lithuania to complete the U19 double across both genders.
Hosts Poland, without a significant history in the competition, face a tough challenge in Group A, where they will come up against Sweden, France, and Italy. Group B is similarly stacked, with Spain drawn alongside Portugal, the Netherlands, and England.
Group stage matches will be played on July 15, 18, and 21, with the semi-finals scheduled for July 24 and the final on July 27.
Women’s Group Draw:
Group A: Poland (hosts), Sweden, France, Italy
Group B: Portugal, Netherlands, England, Spain (holders)
