DAZN sub-licenses 2025 Club World Cup TV rights to Globo in Brazil

April 24 – Brazilian broadcaster Globo has partnered with streaming platform DAZN to broadcast the inaugural edition of the new Club World Cup.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 14 to July 13 in the United States and will feature four Brazilian clubs: Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, and Palmeiras.

The coverage of Globo, Brazil’s largest broadcaster and behemoth in the TV industry, will include all matches involving Brazilian teams, as well as the opening and final games, regardless of Brazilian participation. An additional 50% of the remaining matches in the competition will be covered.

Out of the 63 Club World Cup games, Sportv will broadcast at least 40 live, and TV Globo will air at least 25.

All matches will be available globally on DAZN. Last December, the streaming platform acquired the rights to two editions of the Club World Cup through a $1 billion deal with FIFA after the world governing body had struggled to generate interest from broadcasters.

The deal is primarily facilitated by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund through Surj Sports Investment, which now holds a minority stake in DAZN that it acquired for $1 billin.

DAZN has entered into sublicensing deals in various regions with Channel 5 having picked up rights in the UK after the BBC and ITV passed. In the United States, TNT Sports will broadcast 24 matches.

The Club World Cup will feature eight groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group will advance to the round of 16. The final match will be held at the 82,500-capacity MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey (where the World Cup final will be held in 2026) and will be broadcast on TV Globo and Sportv.
