April 29 – Pepsi has unveiled a star-studded line-up of global female football ambassadors ahead of what promises to be a landmark summer for the women’s game, signalling a renewed marketing push that aligns with its long-standing, high-profile relationship with UEFA.
The campaign sees England captain Leah Williamson joined by two-time Ballon d’Or Féminin winner Alexia Putellas, Chelsea’s Lauren James, Barcelona’s Caroline Graham Hansen, and Saudi Arabia’s Farah Jefry – five players celebrated for their global influence both on and off the pitch.
Together, the ambassadors represent a bold statement of intent from Pepsi: to be at the heart of football’s most dynamic growth story – especially with the inclusion of a Saudi Arabian female athlete for the first time.
The announcement comes just weeks after PepsiCo extended its UEFA Women’s Football sponsorship through to 2030, securing exclusive rights to the UEFA Women’s Champions League and the UEFA Women’s EURO 2029.
That partnership – negotiated through UEFA’s commercial agency UC3 – places PepsiCo’s flagship brands Pepsi, Lay’s and Gatorade front and centre across Europe’s elite women’s competitions and reinforces the company’s growing stake in football’s most commercially promising frontier.
This fresh cohort of brand ambassadors reflect a conscious pivot to global relevance. From Jefry’s rising status in Saudi Arabia to Putellas’ star power in Spain and James’ fast-rising profile in the English game, Pepsi is embracing both emerging markets and established fanbases.
With women’s football breaking attendance records, selling out stadiums, and drawing record TV audiences, Pepsi’s latest move signals both confidence and a calculated effort to keep pace with a sport entering a new commercial era.
Cathy Graham Kidd, Senior Marketing Director at Pepsi, commented: “Our new ambassadors are not only incredible players, but have a thirst for more, a drive to succeed. That makes them one of a kind. The women’s game has rapidly become a global passion point and is gripping audiences across the world with unbeatable entertainment, incredible fan experiences and inspirational players.”
“For decades, Pepsi has redefined football culture. Now, we’re writing the next chapter by championing the unstoppable rise of women’s football and shining the global spotlight on these players.”
Two-time Ballon d’Or Feminin winner Alexia Putellas commented: “This is going to be a summer to remember, and to do it as a part of the Pepsi family is amazing. Our game is the fastest growing sport in the world, and I can’t wait for fans to see what we have coming up.”
Chelsea FC winger Lauren James added: “Joining the Pepsi family as a global ambassador, and sharing the spotlight with so many incredible athletes, is an absolute honour.”
