December 9 – The walls are closing in on former FIFA vice president and Concacaf president Jack Warner. Having lost his appeal against extradition to the US, earlier this week he lost a first round legal battle with Concacaf over a long running dispute concerning the Dr Joao Havelange Centre of Excellence in Macoya, Trinidad.
December 7 – Canadian national team legends Christine Sinclair (pictured) and Diana Matheson have announced plans to create a women’s professional league in the country with kick-off in April 2025.
December 5 – Members of the Trinidad and Tobago FA (TTFA) have called an extraordinary general meeting in a bid to ensure the end of the Normalisation Committee currently running the game in the country.
November 25 – The Canadian Premier League (CPL) delivered good and bad news this week. The good news was a new major partnership, making Maple Lodge Farms the Official Food Protein Partner of the league and Canada Soccer’s National Teams.
November 16 – New York Football Club (NYCFC), owned by City Football Group, and New York City have reached a deal for a new football stadium to be built in Queens.
November 15 – Concacaf has extended its partnership with Host Broadcast Services (HBS) for the next four years until December 2026 to provide broadcast coverage for its it major competitions including the Gold Cup, W Gold Cup, W Championship, Nations League Finals and Champion’s League.
November 9 – Coors Light will be the official beer of the Leagues Cup – the new MLS vs LigaMx club competition kicking off in 2023 – in what is described as a multi-year partner agreement.
November 8 – Former champions Tigres UANL from LigaMX will meet Orlando City from the MLS in what looks to be the pick of the ties from the Round of 16 draw for Concacaf Champions League (SCCL).
November 7 – Los Angeles FC beat Philadelphia Union to win the MLS Cup but only after a last-minute equaliser in extra time from Gareth Bale tied the scores at 3-3.
November 3 – The Canadian Premier League formally announced Vancouver FC as the league’s ninth club, ahead of its inaugural season in 2023.
November 2 – Another major final is going to Los Angeles and will played this weekend at the Banc of California Stadium.
October 28 – The SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles will host the final of the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup, while the confederation has confirmed for the second time there will be a 12-team centralised preliminary round in the US the week before the Group stages start.
October 24 – Concacaf and The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which will see the two confederations collaborate on developing the game in both regions.
October 5 – Just as the United States women’s team is preparing for its prestige international on Friday against England at Wembley, its players are taking in the findings of a damning report which found that emotional abuse and sexual misconduct had become systemic throughout the US National Women’s Soccer League.
September 23 – The fledgling US second tier women’s pro-league – the Women’s Independent Soccer League (WISL) – has appointed Lynn Berling-Manuel as managing director.
