August 9 – Betting related match-fixing is on the increase in South America, according to the latest six-monthly data from sports integrity specialists Starlizard Integrity Services (SIS) who tracked 36,841 matches in the 1 January and 30 June 2024 period.
July 5 – Cameroon football chief Samuel Eto’o has been cleared of match-fixing, but the former FC Barcelona star has been fined $200,000 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for his role as brand ambassador for controversial bookmaker 1XBET.

June 4 – The English FA has continued its clampdown on betting rule breakers and match-fixing with the suspension of Swansea City’s player liaison officer Huw Lake and formally charging West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta for match manipulation.
May 24 – Lucas Paqueta, one of the standout players in the Premier League last season, has been charged with alleged breaches of English Football Association betting rules after a probe into claims the Brazilian deliberately earned yellow cards.
May 17 – Australian professional football has been plunged into disrepute by accusations that the captain of A-League club Macarthur FC paid two younger teammates up to 10,000 Australian dollars to deliberately receive yellow cards in a scheme set up by a South American gambling connection.
